Red Dead Redemption 2 fans are angry over the state of the game running on the PlayStation 5 Pro, a console that is marketed as the most powerful console in the world.
It all started with a tweet, as many of these things do. The tweet said, “The PS5 Pro, despite being the most powerful console ever made, will still run RDR2 at only 30fps. That sucks.”
Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a makeover soon with a remastered edition.
First things first, they’re right. It does indeed suck. However, the tweet is slightly misleading as the onus isn’t on Sony here, it’s on Rockstar Games.

The Twitter user, Ross Tweets Games, did point out in a follow-up tweet that the issue is that Rockstar Games won’t unlock the framerate via a patch or update.
Despite whose fault it is, fans aren’t happy that one of the best games of all time is stuck behind 30fps when so many other games are taking advantage of the console’s power.
Of course, plenty of players point out that the game runs with an unlocked framerate on PCs and even PC-based handhelds.
One Twitter reply focused on PC vs consoles, reading, “Biggest downside of console gaming, tbh. Depending on developers to update their games on newer hardware.”

As so many are pointing out, it doesn’t matter just how powerful a console is, the improvements will only be seen when developers push their games or create updates with new generations in mind.
However, with Rockstar Games so busy finishing off and polishing GTA VI, it’s an update that will likely never see the light of day.
“Sucks that Rockstar doesn't allow an option to change fps,” says one Twitter user.
While another comments, “What did you expect? Rockstar has to give gamers a justifiable reason to buy the PC version.”

Until Rockstar Games has the time, you will be stuck at 30fps on consoles - even the PS5 Pro.
