PlayStation Plus really is a very worthwhile offering if you main the PlayStation 4 or 5 as your console of choice, giving you access to a ton of features and games that almost make the service feel like a necessity at this point.

As well as giving players free games to download and keep every month, it also allows us to play online with others, as well as giving access to a library of older games that you can stream directly to your modern hardware.

That includes PS3 games, and though it was probably the weakest generation of consoles that Sony has ever produced, it did also have some all-time classic game releases that really still deserve to be played in 2026.

Unfortunately, it seems that isn't a service that a lot of subscribers are able to access right now, and patience is growing thin in the void left behind thanks to Sony's noticeable silence on the matter.

Sony Yet to Respond to PS3 Streaming Issues

Over on Reddit, one user shared a post with the caption, "I wish they’d at least tell us something about why PS3 game streaming isn’t working. Any info in official news or something would be nice."

It seems as though it's absolutely a problem that a lot of people are having, with the comments below full of others complaining about suffering through similar issues on their home consoles.

"I can’t get it to work either and support wouldn’t wrap their head around the fact that I was asking them about issues about ps3 streaming and not the ps3 itself. Try to launch by clicking stream. For me just makes the sound then nothing happens," one comment read.

"Yeah I’m pretty p**sed because I upgraded my plus last night because my boyfriend wanted to stream Batman: Arkham Origins and then it wouldn’t work when we went to stream it. I know it was only $5 for me to upgrade to premium but I still spent $16 total for something I can’t even use the full extent of. And for there to be no official statement on this is even worse," another added.

"The PS3 game streaming started as a backwards compatible solution for PS4 owners years ago, but now in 2026 is ridiculous we don't have an official emulator to play these games on PS5. The hardware is more than capable," a third said.

In any case, PS3 streaming is one of the big motivators for players to subscribe to PS Plus Premium, so without it, it really does feel like a considerably less compelling offering.
