PlayStation Plus Gamers Urged Not To Sleep on Underrated Sci-Fi Gem

Don't sleep on this

PlayStation Plus subscribers are recommending this criminally underrated sci-fi game, which has been compared to Firewatch but in space.

Space exploration games are pretty common nowadays, with No Man’s Sky clawing its way back from obscurity and Starfield clinging to life with DLC expansions.

If that genre is your cup of tea but you’re after less open-worlds and more gripping narratives then The Invincible might just be for you, and it comes highly recommended by PlayStation Plus users.

The Invincible’s description reads as follows: “Rethink human’s dominion in The Invincible: a story-driven adventure set in a hard sci-fi world by Stanisław Lem. Discover planet Regis III as scientist Yasna, use atompunk tools looking for a missing crew and face unforeseen threats. Make choices in a philosophical story that’s driven by science.”

The game was recently shared on Reddit by someone who gave it a go via PlayStation Plus Extra, and they’d urge you to try it for yourself.

Reddit user No-Map2009 said “If you like Firewatch, you'll love this game. The atmosphere, gameplay, story. It is soo much fun, I would definitely recommend.”

As someone who played Firewatch for the first time not too long ago and loved every second of it, this game definitely has my interest all of a sudden.

It seems to have captured the attention of other PlayStation Plus subscribers too, as many seem eager to give the game a go after its glowing reviews.

“Actually, I've seen quite a few posts saying the same thing lately. I’ll have to try it out soon” read one of the post’s comments.

One commenter who’d already played the game agreed, saying “I finished it over the weekend. Very atmospheric and didn’t overstay its welcome. Plus apparently there’s 11 different endings (I was happy with my outcome, so watched the rest on YouTube).”

As other comments point out don’t go into The Invincible expecting a riveting action-adventure game. It’s a lot more slow-paced so if the first hour or so isn’t impressing you, give it a bit of time to get going.

While I’m sure opinions on PlayStation Plus and other gaming subscriptions like it are mixed, there’s no doubt that they introduce us to some truly fantastic games, many of which we’d likely have unfairly ignored if we had to pay for them outright.
