You can nab a massive PlayStation Plus subscription right this second, but you may have to jump through a hoop or two to claim it.

Thank you in advance to Push Square's Liam Croft for originally spotting this one!

As of now, there are currently two pretty hefty discounts floating around for both PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium.

You can currently nab 35% off a 12 month PlayStation Plus Premium subscription or 25% off a 12 month PlayStation Plus Extra subscription, but there are several catches here.

Firstly, this only applies to 12 month subscriptions. One month and three month discounts don’t seem to be a thing as of writing.

Secondly, you can only grab this discount up until February 4. Apparently it has something to do with the Lunar New Year, but that’s on January 29 so… I think it’s just a fancy excuse to throw out a big discount.

Finally, and this is the biggest catch, it seems that a lot of folks don’t actually qualify for the discount - but there’s seemingly a workaround to trigger it.

Over on the r/PS5 subreddit, a lot of people have been complaining that the offer just isn’t showing up for them, but a couple of users figured out that there’s a sneaky way to get it to pop up.

If your PlayStation Plus subscription is set to auto-renew once it runs out, it seems that the discount won’t show up in the PlayStation Store.

As a result, several commenters have noted that simply going into the PS Plus subscription settings and turning the auto-renew option off has caused the discount to pop up in the store.

Kind of underhanded of Sony if that’s the case. I guess they’re banking on a lot of people simply letting their yearly subscriptions automatically renew to get the most amount of money out of them.
