It appears that PlayStation Plus subscribers don’t have long left to play one of the best open-world titles on PlayStation consoles.
Horizon Zero Dawn will be removed from the PlayStation Plus Extra subscription catalogue on 21 May, which doesn’t give you long to play it if it’s been on your backlog for a while.
Both Horizon games have been huge for Sony, bringing players astonishing worlds to explore.
It’s odd that Sony is removing one of its own first-party exclusives from their own subscription service. The game has been playable for some time now and was followed up by an extremely successful sequel.

If players can’t get the full Sony selection it would be disappointing given the high level of quality to be found in their games.
However, this news may be an indication of what’s to come. Rumours have been swirling for a while that we’re due a remastered edition of Horizon Zero Dawn, which would makes sense given the remastered editions of The Last of Us and its sequel.
If Sony is to usher in a shiny new version of Aloy’s adventure then it’s likely they’d remove the original game to boost sales before putting the updated version into the subscription library.
Of course, this is just speculation on the part of the fanbase and news outlets, but it could also come down to a regional issue.

The removal of the game was first spotted by a Redditor, which was then followed up by several news outlets who had varying results on whether they saw the message about its removal. The game also isn’t in the “last chance to play” category on the console, so it could be a regional thing.
Whatever the reasoning, this is your call to play the game before it potentially disappears from the service. There’s a reason it’s so well-loved and it’s definitely worth your time.
