If you’re a subscriber to either PlayStation Plus’ extra or premium tiers, you’re going to want to pull up a chair and take notes. Both catalogues are set to lose a whopping 16 games collectively in the coming weeks, including some excellent AAA open-world bangers.
In case you missed it, PlayStation Plus premium subscribers can now access a library of over 100 films as a part of their subscription thanks to the introduction of Sony Pictures Core on PS4/5 consoles. It may seem like a decent perk, but fans have argued that it still doesn’t justify the recent major price rise, seeing as its games subscribers are after - not films. It awaits to be seen if the upcoming October extra and premium game drop impresses. This month’s essential tier line-up is a mild improvement, consisting of The Callisto Protocol, Farming Simulator 22, and Wild West. As mentioned though, a massive 16 games will be leaving the extra and premium tiers on 17 October so if you want to check them out, you better do so now.
One of those games is the very fun The Quarry. The perfect bite-sized spooky season treat. Take a look at the game in action below.
On 17 October, the following games will be leaving the extra tier catalogue: The Quarry, Far Cry 4, Far Cry 5, The Medium, Inside, Limbo, the Crew, Naruto To Boruto Shinobi Striker, Clouds and Sheep 2, Asterbreed, Torquel, Gal Gunvolt, and Goosebumps: The Game. Additionally, Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, and Yakuza 5 Remastered will be leaving the premium tier.

As I said, The Quarry is well worth checking out - and seeing as it takes roughly eight to 10 hours to complete, you should have more than enough time to do so between now and 17 October. I’m imagining that Fary Cry 4 and Far Cry 5 will also be sorely missed. It’s probably going to take you between 18 and 25 hours to complete each of those two, so you’ve got a bit more of a race against time on your hands.
It’s also sad to see several Yakuza entries leave the premium tier, particularly as this tier receives far fewer additions than the extra tier each month. You’ve been warned. Get playing, my friends.
