PlayStation Plus Next Free Game is a Massive 2024 Release

This is going to please subscribers

Yet another banger is on the way, my friends.

PlayStation Plus is a hit-and-miss service; some of its free game line-ups are incredible and others make you wonder why you subscribe.

October has, so far, been one of the best months on records.

PlayStation Plus essential tier subscribers recently gained access to Alan Wake 2, Cocoon, and Goat Simulator 3; these titles are available to extra and premium tier subscribers too.

Goat Simulator 3 I can personally live without, but Alan Wake 2 is easily one of 2023’s best games whilst Cocoon was one of my favourite indie releases of that same year.

It’s now been leaked what this month’s extra tier line-up will include, and it’s a 2024 banger.

According to prominent leaker billbil-kun, the extra tier will soon be gaining 2024’s Silent Hill 2, a Bloober Team remake of the beloved Konami title.

Of course, as a leak, this means PlayStation has not confirmed the news.

However, billbil-kun is a very reliable voice when it comes to PlayStation Plus, getting the line-up correct every time he surfaces.

According to the leaker, Silent Hill 2 will join the extra catalogue on 21 October.

There are plenty of rumours surrounding Silent Hill 2, specifically concerning whether it’ll soon branch out from being a PS5 console exclusive.

It’s believed the title may land on additional platforms alongside a DLC.

Perhaps that’s why Bloober Team and Konami is willing to add it to PlayStation Plus as it’s soon pursuing other income avenues?

The remake is utterly brilliant, having secured a score of 86 on Metacritic.

In our own review, GAMINGbible’s Richard Lee Breslin said, “Bloober Team has treated this remake with the utmost respect and despite that forced stealth section, this is about a perfect remake of Silent Hill 2 and everything I could have hoped for. Bloober Team has finally realised its potential, and its remake of Silent Hill 2 deserves its place amongst the upper echelon of modern survival horror greats.”

Silent Hill 2 will be joined by several other titles, although we don’t yet know what those are.

If PlayStation sticks to its usual announcement schedule, those should be unveiled on Wednesday 15 October, and we’ll bring that announcement to you.

What I can tell you is what’s leaving this month, so here’s a last chance warning for the following games which’ll depart on 21 October: Battlefield 1, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Tour de France 2023, and The Last Clockwinder.
