PlayStation has now revealed its latest batch of free games coming to PS Plus next month, and one title in particular stands out.

PlayStation Plus' free game selection is always something worth grabbing. Even if the batch is a little rubbish, you can always kill a little time with the games being offered that month.

As we reported yesterday, PlayStation Plus Essential will be getting four more games for the month of March.

Three of these games are PGA Tour 2K25, Monster Hunter Rise, and The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Gold Road. And the fourth is the one I wanted to highlight: Slime Rancher 2.

Slime Rancher 2 Is A 2025 Gem Which Will Be Available Next Month For PS Plus Subscribers

A sequel to 2017’s Slime Rancher, the sequel originally launched in Steam Early Access in 2022, but came to consoles along with its 1.0 version release in September last year.

The game is a farm life sim where you play as the titular “slime rancher” Beatrix LeBeau, a person who moves away from planet Earth to become a rancher on a distant world.

Slime Rancher 2’s gameplay is based around constructing a ranch to collect, raise, and breed various different types of slimes. These creatures then produce a material known as “plorts”, which are sold in exchange for money to upgrade the ranch and your equipment.

The sequel introduces new kinds of slime variants, like the bouncy cotton slime or the aquatic angler slime, which each have unique appearances or abilities.

Overall, it’s a pretty good sequel that builds on what made the original great, though it does run the risk of being a little grindy once you hit the late-game stages. This was less of an issue in the first game, but has become more obvious in Slime Rancher 2.

Still though, we recommend Slime Rancher 2 as a successor to the first game. The new features add a lot more depth to the gameplay, and its art style is pretty fun.

If you’re interested in checking out Slime Rancher 2 and you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you’ll be able to play it when the next batch of PS Plus Essential games land on 3 March, where they’ll be available until 6 April.
