When I took a look at the latest batch of free games for PlayStation Plus, my first thought was that it was the best month we've had in ages. Now I've had a quick peek at the reaction to those games from other subscribers, it would appear I'm woefully out of touch.
It has not been a particularly strong year for PlayStation Plus, I think we can all agree. A price increase a few months back
went down about as well as expected, and the free games we've received since then haven't been the most popular.

There wasn't much enthusiasm for the free games for November, and I fear December has fared about as well.
Take a look at one of the free games below!
For my money, the PlayStation Plus free games for December are probably the best we've had in a long while. I grant you that's not exactly the highest praise, given recent competition, but there are some bangers in here.

Sable is hands-down one of the most stunning and original open world games I've ever played, and is exactly the sort of game you want to see on PlayStation Plus. LEGO 2K Drive is an absolute blast alone or with friends, and Powerwash Simulator may sound like crap on paper, bit is actually one of the most satisfying games you'll ever experience. All three of these games are genuinely brilliant, and absolutely worth your time.
Alas, the PlayStation Plus subreddit is not at all happy with these offerings. Go figure.
"They've literally been garbage since the price hike," wrote one user.
"Our expectations were low, but holy f*ck," another added.

Of the hundreds of comments on the thread, I struggled to find a single positive one. I don't know if it's just easier to be negative about PlayStation Plus right now, or if everyone genuinely believes the latest free games are bad. But if you're reading this and wondering whether Sable, Powerwash Simulator, and LEGO 2K Drive are worth a look, I'm telling you they are. Are they good enough to justify the price hike? That's up for debate, but if you're still subscribed to PlayStation Plus, you could do a lot worse than this trilogy of games.
