An entertaining RPG with fluid combat

Subscribed to PlayStation Plus? Don’t know what to play?

If you just answered yes to both of those questions and you’re a member of the extra or premium tiers, then allow me to impart a recommendation upon you.

If you’re after a lengthy action RPG that could well and truly gobble your time if you let it, then Bandai Namco Studios’ Tales of Arise could be the game for you.

Please do not be put off by the fact that it’s the 17th game in the Tales Of series.

I want to assure you that you can treat this as an entry point. You don’t need any prior knowledge to enjoy what it offers.

Let’s start off with its Metacritic score. Tales of Arise boasts a score of 87, so you don’t just need to accept my word that it’s fantastic.

Gfinity praised the “incredible journey” it offers, awarding the game a perfect 10, while GamingTrend shouted out the “fun and fluid” combat and “charming” characters.

ICYMI: Astro Bot is out now on PlayStation 5.

“For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping people of their dignity and freedom,” reads the synopsis.

“Our tale begins with two people, born on different worlds, each looking to change their fate and create a new future. Featuring a diverse cast of characters, intuitive and rewarding combat system, and a captivating story set in a lush world worth fighting for, Tales of Arise delivers a first-class JRPG experience.”

Tales of Arise has everything you could want in an RPG.

A stunning world with evolving environments, memorable characters, thrilling combat with new boost attacks … what’s not to love?

Oh and did I mention that there’s a graphics shader so you can give the game a stunning anime/watercolour-style overhaul? It’s a thing of beauty.

The game remains available on PlayStation Plus’ extra and premium tiers so go and give it a whirl.
