A PlayStation exclusive has been quietly killed off and nobody noticed, that was until now and it’s not looking promising if you were looking forward to this game.
That being said, you’d be forgiven if this particular indie video game had been wiped from your memory. I know that I had forgotten about its existence, but now we’ve had this news, memories of the once-promising PlayStation 4 exclusive have resurfaced.
Check out the WiLD trailer below!
The video game in question is a survival game called WiLD which was initially announced in 2014 at Gamescom and was being developed by the independent Wild Sheep Studio. Some rumours were circulating the internet in 2020 that WiLD had been cancelled following its game director and studio founder, Michel Ancel retiring from the industry but no official announcement had been made whether the game had been cancelled.

The concept of WiLD was an intriguing one, with the player being able to control a human character but could use creatures in the wildlife to spy on enemies to gain a tactical advantage or large animals used to fight. It also had a procedurally generated, prehistoric neolithic-inspired world, which looked like it could have been a lot of fun to explore.
While neither Sony nor Wild Sheep Studios have made an official statement on the progress of WiLD, creative director Steven ter Heidi responded to a question on Twitter asked by GameSpot editor, Gabe Gurwin and the response wasn't the update we wanted to hear.

“WiLD still alive???” asked Gurwin to which Heidi replied, “Unfortunately, all we can say is that we are no longer actively working on it.”
So, there you have it, if you had hopes that WiLD would eventually be released, even on PlayStation 5, it might be wise to drastically lower those expectations. We will of course update if we hear any other developments on this seemingly doomed survival game.
