Sony recently apologised to players who lost gaming time while the PSN services were down, and the apology was accompanied by a little freebie reward for their patience.
As a thank you to fans who stuck with them during the 24-hour outage back in February, Sony gave every single player five days of PlayStation Plus access for free.
PlayStation users got a free five days of PlayStation Plus to enjoy recently.
It’s highly likely that you got the free five days, but you may have missed out on it because Sony contacted players via email, rather than pushing out a message via their consoles.

As one player noted, over on Reddit, they hadn’t spotted the email, meaning they were unaware of the free time available on PlayStation Plus.
Of course, if you’re already a PlayStation Plus user, the five days will simply be added onto your total.
However, if you’re not currently subscribed, and you get the email late, or miss it, then you aren’t going to be able to take advantage of the free time.
“Sony is giving me five days of PS+, tells me three days later,” said the Redditor who created the thread.

They continued, “Yay, two entire days of PS+!”
This would mean that the PlayStation fan would have missed out on several days of playing games in the extensive game catalogue.
According to many in the thread, it seems that very few users got the email from Sony, so it’s worth checking yours, although the time may have now elapsed.
“I came here to see if I was the only one. And it’s literally impossible to get in touch with customer support,” said sailorscout65.

It was a nice effort on the part of Sony which decided to give out a consolation after a worldwide outage meant many couldn’t play or interact with online services for 24 hours, if only the compensation rollout was executed a little better.
