Sony has begun the unprecedented action of fully refunding players for a game that was only released a couple of weeks ago.
Concord, a game that had been in production for eight years, was released just two weeks ago to a far-from-ideal reception.
Amazon Prime's Secret Level is due to showcase Concord as part of their celebration of gaming
The game was a big part of a push to live-service gaming from Sony and cost the company tens of millions of dollars, if not more, to produce.

Sadly, upon release, estimates say it debuted to fewer than 30,000 units sold, and over on Steam the game couldn’t even garner more than 1,000 players.
Due to this Sony has decided to pull the plug on the game and “explore options, including those that will better reach our players.”
This is unprecedented and has never been seen before. Sure, games can get refunded or battle passes are reimbursed when a game doesn’t meet expectations and goes free-to-play, but not within two weeks.
The statement from Sony continues, “Concord sales will cease immediately and we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased the game for PS5 or PC.”

This means that anyone who has bought the game will receive a full refund, no matter how many hours they played.
Of course, this leaves Concord in a difficult position. Sony invested heavily in the title when the company decided to push into the live-service space.
That plan, along with others from rival companies, hasn’t panned out. Will Concord return with a free-to-play model? It’s hard to guess as it could end up a write-off on Sony’s part.
To make things a little more complicated, Amazon Prime’s upcoming Secret Level show, which celebrates gaming, is due to feature a short based on Concord, a game that will be dead when the show airs in December.
