PlayStation has announced a new beta program for users to take part in, giving them sneak peeks at upcoming features for the consoles.

In a blog post, Senior Director, Sony Interactive Entertainment Content Communications, Sid Shuman, noted that players can sign up now, for a chance to be accepted into the program.

Players can sign up for the PlayStation beta to test new console features and games

There are only three conditions to being accepted into the beta program - to be of legal age in your country of residence, live in an eligible region, and have a clean and valid PlayStation account.

Sign-ups are open now, and those accepted will be able to playtest games, and new console feature as they become available.

It’s noted, “The Beta Program at PlayStation will create an easy, centralized place for you to register your interest in a range of future PlayStation betas.”

PlayStation stresses that you only need to sign up once, and from then, you will be picked at random to take part in betas.

It will then be up to you whether to accept the invitation.

The two main features for signing up are the ability to playtest new games and give “your expert opinion to influence improvements before release day.”

You will also, “Play your part in testing new on-console functionality, system software and innovations.”

A similar program is part of the Xbox ecosystem, and players get the chance to test lots of new functions regularly.

If you’re a PlayStation fan, this is a great chance to get access to new stuff, and have your say.

In Shuman’s blog post, it’s mentioned that places on the beta are limited - “we try to include as many players as possible in our beta programs, sometimes we may get more interest than we can accommodate.”

Of course, if you don’t put your name down, you’ll never have a chance to take part, so what are you waiting for?
