PlayStation drops 14 new games you can download and play free from today

PlayStation dropping some heat

PlayStation has dropped some bangers for the month of October and there’s plenty to download and play for free.

Of course, you have to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber, giving you access to 14 terrific games across several genres.

We're going back to Horizon Zero Dawn with the remastered edition later this month

You’re here to find out what to play, so let’s dive right into the selection for this month. Thankfully, there is a horror title included for Halloween hi-jinks with The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me.

If you want some old-school survival horror and have a Premium subscription, you can dive into the Capcom gem, Dino Crisis, a game that many of us have wanted remade for years.

Perhaps headlining the selection is the fantastic Dead Island 2 which, while we wouldn’t call it a horror, definitely has horror leanings for those in the mood.

Away from horror bangers, you can find some sports titles with Overpass 2 and Tour de France 2023, and there’s a fantastic adventure game in Return to Monkey Island if you want a headscratcher that will make you laugh.

A game I want to highlight is GRIS, which is a beautiful meditation on loss that will draw out a wealth of emotions while you play. Every scene is like a painting come to life.

Rounding out the games to play on an Extra subscription, we’ve got Two Point Campus, for plenty more laughs and some tactical decision-making.

You can get down with some ghost busting in Ghostbusters: Spirit Unleashed, battle in the war on terror with Ghost Recon: Wildlands, or fight fires for the public in Firefighting Simulator: The Squad.

Premium subscribers have more than just Dino Crisis, though that game would suffice. You can play The Last Clockwinder if you have PSVR2, or Siren, another horror game from back in the day.

Lastly, there’s R-Type Dimensions EX from the PS4 to keep you ticking over until next month.
