A treasure trove of free store credit could be yours simply by playing the PlayStation Plus games of the month.

PlayStation users have been surprised by a bonus drop of free store credit that’s caused quite a stir online.

You may be busy right now playing a PlayStation Plus game that’s 3x bigger than Skyrim, and we can respect that.

But just pause your playthrough for a moment to ensure you don’t miss this deal.

October’s PS Plus delivers a wealth of free games and, apparently, a wealth of free store credit as well.

Silent Hill 2 is waiting for you...

Redditor silentnoisyguy revealed that while some users are only getting the standard 50 points for playing the monthly games, others are getting considerably more.

Sometimes as much as 500 points.

“So, my friend today did the challenge of playing the monthly games and was awarded 500 points, although I only was awarded 50 (as usual),” the OP detailed, before asking, “Does anyone have an explanation?”

Gamers have tried to offer an explanation for this unusual occurrence, though the main reasoning appears to be down to plain ol’ luck.

“Could have been a bug that favoured some people and not others, or for whatever reason Sony chose people to have different reward value,” suggested bmw_motorsports_.

This then fed into a discussion about PlayStation Stars in general and how it’s “stuffed”.

It sucks to be one of the players missing out, but for some of you out there, you may be sitting on a points gold mine.

Assuming you’re playing through the monthly free titles anyway, you may as well try your luck to be in with the chance of being bombarded with hundreds of points.

Been burnt before and don’t want to try your luck? That’s okay, because we’ve got some PS Plus horror experiences that’ll send a chill down your spine.

You'll get a surprise or two this October, but some may be more trick than treat.
