In a frankly concerning turn of events the PlayStation 6 may have one of the most important sequels ever produced as an exclusive game.
There was once a time where a console’s exclusive game line-up would determine its success in the long-run, meaning the console war between Xbox and PlayStation would almost always see the latter company come out on top.
It’s still storming ahead with banger exclusives too, like Silent Hill 2 (2024)
While Xbox is looking to make more of its first-party titles available on other platforms, and Nintendo is still content with doing its own thing away from competition, PlayStation is seemingly still hellbent on ensuring its fans have exclusives to play.

This brings us to the worrying confirmation that Sony is looking to acquire Kadokawa, parent company to FromSoftware.
While no deal has gone ahead yet Kadokawa has confirmed that a letter of intent has been received from Sony, but no decision has been made at the time of writing.
If Sony does acquire Kadokawa it would have access to several existing and upcoming IPs, which means the PlayStation 6 could have a hefty number of exclusives including hypothetical titles like Elden Ring 2.
Obviously take all of this with a pinch of salt, as even if Sony does acquire the company it doesn’t mean it’ll definitely lead to more exclusive games, but given Sony’s track-record it wouldn’t be out of the question by any means.

The PlayStation 5 already has an exclusive FromSoftware title in the way of the Demon Souls remake, and it also owns the publishing rights to Bloodborne despite seemingly refusing to do anything with it.
If a deal does go through successors to Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and of course Elden Ring could join PlayStation’s first-party line-up, something that’ll surely cause a bit of controversy amongst fans.
