Just over one year ago, Hideo Kojima seemingly confirmed one of the PlayStation 6’s first titles.
It was during a State of Play showcase that the famed auteur revealed Physint, an “action espionage” game that’ll serve somewhat as a spiritual successor to the Metal Gear series.
It was an incredibly vague reveal. In fact, not a single frame, cinematic, or concept image for the game was showcased.

Instead, Kojima promised that Physint would use “cutting edge technology” in what he labelled as the next level of interactive digital entertainment.
Perhaps the most interesting tidbit to surface about Physint was the fact that Kojima said this is a game “for the next generation”, seemingly being the first to lockdown as a PlayStation 6 title.
The PlayStation 6 isn’t expected to launch for three to four years, but this fits with Kojima’s output.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is set to land this year, in 2025, six years after the original Death Stranding was released.

It then makes sense that Kojima’s next game for the PlayStation brand wouldn’t be ready until the PS6 generation arrives.
Let’s not forget that he’s also hard at work on horror OD with Xbox Game Studios.
As far away as Physint remains though, it’s already been subject to a delay with Kojima opening up about the impact of the ongoing video game actor’s strike.
ICYMI: Take a look at the latest trailer for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach below.
In a yearly recap posted to Twitter, Kojima wrote the following, “For OD, we developed the game and had actor and environment scanning. In the second half of the year, scanning and filming were suspended due to the SAG strike. Casting was also suspended for Physint due to the strike.”

“We hope to resume next year,” he concluded.
OD is certainly further ahead than Physint then, which fits with what we know given that OD has a teaser trailer and Physint does not.
The fact that casting is yet to commence on Physint further evidences that this is a title many, many years away.
Still, it’s nice to know that we potentially have another Kojima masterpiece to look forward to when the PS6 does finally land.
