There was a huge amount of excitement when Sony announced it would be bringing classic PlayStation games to the PlayStation 5, so it's been a bit of a bummer to see those OG PlayStation bangers added at a snail's pace.

At the time of writing we get maybe 1-2 PS1 games on PlayStation 5 every month via PlayStation Plus, and the quality varies wildly.

The good news is that a genuine cast-iron PS1 classic from back in the day is finally making its way to PlayStation 5... just not via PlayStation Plus. Go figure.

Streaming platform Antstream Arcade is officially headed to PlayStation, bringing well over 1,300 retro games to PS4 and PS5.

It's an impressive library mostly focused on consoles like Amiga, Atari, and Genesis, but there are a handful of classic PlayStation games.

A quick look on the streaming service's website tells me one of those games is the beloved PS1 gem Hogs Of War.

For those who don't remember Hogs Of War, it was a turn-based tactical warfare game with a focus on slapstick comedy in the vein of Worms. It also starred the voice talents of the legendary Rik Mayall, so it's obviously a work of pure art.

While Hogs Of War is currently in the process of being remastered for modern consoles, this is a chance to play the game in its original form.

"Antstream Arcade is the world's largest officially licensed retro game platform, featuring more than 1300 games available to stream," a press release boasts. "

The extensive and impressive catalogue includes titles from the early systems like the Atari 2600 and Commodore 64, to Arcade classics and games from SNES, Megadrive, and PlayStation One, and even features newly developed arcade games. Tournaments and challenges mean that these classic games can be played in new ways, allowing players to compete with the active community."

Antstream PlayStation Edition will be available on PS4 and PS5 from £39.99/ $39.99/ €39.99 for an annual pass, or £99.99/ $99.99/ €99.99 for lifetime access.
