Astro's Playroom is a game that comes bundled with every PlayStation 5 console as a way of showcasing the DualSense controller, as well as showing off the console's gorgeous visuals.
Astro's Playroom was the first thing I played on my PS5 and it cemented my decision to buy. It's a stunning and lavish game that truly wows by showing players how the DualSense can add a new dimension to gaming. It's no surprise that the game has been a topic of conversation over on Reddit recently, with many gathering to discuss its brilliance.
The PlayStation DualSense is an amazing piece of hardware.
Astro's PlayRoom takes players through different worlds that showcase a different feature of the DualSense controller and features of the console, like the SSD storage.

A Reddit thread appeared recently thanks to u/MattP1540 who calls the game "ridiculously fun" and takes a moment to explore how the DualSense should be used by other developers. The original post compares Astro's Playroom to "Super Mario Odyssey combined with a trip down memory lane" because it pairs easy to learn 3D platforming with lots of nostalgia from PlayStation history.
The best reply to the post comes from a user saying what we're all thinking, "We need a full 10 hour Astro platformer." This is followed by lots of people talking about their favourite moment from the game, like u/ZooNeiland who says, "The feel of ice skating through the DualSense is so satisfying." Then there are people quoting lyrics from the SSD song that was a great earworm, or u/TheJoshider10 who said "Astro absolutely deserves to be the next PlayStation icon."
It seems the original poster has lots of ideas of how the DualSense could be used in other games, for example Baldur's Gate 3 could roll dice after swiping the touch pad or "using the edge lights on the controller as part of a puzzle solving mechanic." While some games do utilise the controller functions well, nothing does it better than Astro's Playroom.
