How you use your PlayStation 5 is ultimately up to you.

That said, there are ways to improve your experience, which should be top of your to-do list if you want to get the most out of your console.

Currently, with so much talk about the looming yet out-of-sight PlayStation 5 Pro release, fans are obsessed with bundle concepts and the like.

However, just for a second, let’s focus on the PS5.

You know, the Sony console we can see and touch.

During a discussion regarding the “no brainer changes” you should make after getting your hardware fresh out of the box, two settings were mentioned you might not have thought to alter.

Firstly, the controller mic; specifically, toggling on “hard mute” so it doesn’t keep “popping on when you don’t want”.

A smart move that we might not naturally think to adjust when getting to know our new console.

This particular piece of advice was seconded by another saying, “Controller mute lets you use Strong haptic feedback and triggers. Drops to weak when unmuted in game with active mic, EG multiplayer. Mute by default and then unmute when needed.”

Not only will it prove less annoying, but it also has noticeable benefits.

Secondly, and we’d say more importantly, you should toggle off video capture “when collecting trophies”.

As someone who used to have an obscene amount of video clips clogging up my PS5, I highly recommend this one.

Don’t be silly like me.

Here’s a handy guide for you to follow to help you make that change, provided by user Forever-Delayed, “Settings ➜ Captures and Broadcasts ➜ Trophies ➜ Save Trophy Videos.”

These stellar setting suggestions come from Redditor Fleagled, and from them came a myriad of other useful changes you should be considering.

Among these tips were to “choose the correct audio type”, as well as turning off rest mode for better energy consumption.

Now that you've been armed with this knowledge, it’s up to you whether you implement it and improve your PS5 experience for the better.
