PlayStation users are being treated to some freebies in celebration of the company’s 30th anniversary.

Hard to believe it’s been 30 years but here we are, and PlayStation is still going strong as a titan of the gaming industry.

Some of the latest exploits the company has gotten up to has been releasing the PlayStation 5 Pro, even giving it a makeover reminiscent of the original PlayStation console.

As part of the celebrations PlayStation subscribers are being invited to unlock special collectables via PlayStation Stars to commemorate the long history of the company and the games that brought it success.

Those who favour retro games have their own collectables to earn, but the ones we’re talking about today are for the modern Sony consoles, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The collectibles are two memory cards - ironic since the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 don’t use them - that are meant to represent the memories we’ve made as fans along the way.

To unlock the PlayStation 5 version, you'll need to play any of the following titles: Elden Ring, Astro Bot, Helldivers II, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, God of War Ragnarök, or Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

For PlayStation 4, the eligible games are: Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Persona 5, inFamous Second Son, and Injustice 2.

These are major titles, so there’s bound to be one that you’ve got - and simply loading up the game for a few minutes will do as long as you hit start on the campaign.

Persona 5 is on there, as I said, and as a huge fan of that game, I have no choice but to recommend you play it if you haven’t already.

Other celebrations include sales on several PlayStation exclusives, as well as rumours that another State Of Play showcase will be happening at some point in the coming weeks, hopefully giving us a better idea of what’s to come for the future.

While I’d love to say a Bloodborne remaster is going to be a part of that future, it still feels like wishful thinking…
