Three years into the PlayStation 5’s life cycle and we’re finally reaching the point where cross-generational PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 game releases are becoming a thing of the past. If you’re itching to play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but you’re sitting there with a PS4 - or heck, even a Nintendo Switch or Xbox - this latest bundle may be just the thing for you.
The release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is undeniably the biggest event on PlayStation’s calendar this year. The highly anticipated sequel will allow players to seamlessly switch between Peter and Miles during free-roam sections of the game, plus we’ll be able to travel to several of New York's boroughs that we’ve never been to before. In fact, the map is confirmed to be twice as large. Add in Peter’s worrying-yet-cool new symbiote abilities and I think we’re in for a feast. Clearly, this is Sony’s big Game of the Year contender - and the building hype is palpable.
Take a look at the brand new story trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 below.
Ahead of the release of the game, at yesterday’s San Diego Comic Con panel, Insomniac Games and Sony unveiled a line of brand new Spidey inspired PS5 hardware. There’s a themed DualSense controller, cover plates, and a bundle including both of the aforementioned items, plus a PlayStation 5 console and a digital copy of the game. If this is the game that’s finally persuaded you into nabbing a PS5, this could be the perfect bundle.

Unfortunately, no prices are available at the time of writing. Pre-orders open on 28 July in the US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal - and the item will then be released on 1 September. Do note, the game will be obtainable via a digital voucher if you’re buying the bundle. A physical copy is not included, seemingly due to the fact that the bundles ship ahead of the game’s 20 October release.
As the prices are as yet unavailable, we can’t break down just how much of a saving you’ll get if you decide to grab this bundle but clearly, there’s going to be one. That’s the whole point of a bundle, so if you are looking to make the swing (see what I did there) over to PlayStation 5, this could be the deal to consider.
