Guerilla Games and Sony Interactive’s hit 2017 game Horizon Zero Dawn is finally getting a remaster, and fans could not be happier with the new content on offer.

As announced at Sony’s State of Play event last night, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is coming to both PlayStation 5 and PC on the 31st of October next month.

This remaster isn’t just a new coat of paint though and honestly might qualify as a full-blown remake to some, given all the new features that they’ve added.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will feature “integrated custom haptics for the DualSense controller”, “a range of graphical features that have been improved to make use of the power of the PS5 Pro”, “revamped the sound mix”, and, most importantly, “over 10 hours of re-recorded conversation, mocap and countless graphical improvements”.

And, as if this wasn’t enough, the game will be available as a $9.99 upgrade for anyone who already owns the game on PS4, PS5 or PC.

“Updated mocap confirmed!!” commented Cheechers23 on the r/horizon subreddit, “That’s huge, and the one thing I really wanted in a remaster. That + the $10 upgrade makes it a buy for me”

“Seamless visual fidelity with Forbidden West, improving what everyone recognizes was its main glaring weakpoint 7+ years on,” stated Sebbin in the same post, “and the resources to make it were split with another studio. Any zero-sum gamers whining about wasted resources can basically be ignored at this point.”

“And the $10/$50 price point is pretty much perfect. I had worries before the announcement. But not anymore. Bring on the next playthrough”

That being said, comments outside of the r/horizon subreddit are a little more negative - such as the comments on the trailer on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. However they’re more to do with the fact that this is another Sony remaster announcement and nothing to do with the quality of the trailer or the new additions.

But hey, at least the fans of the game are happy. At the end of the day, that’s the most important thing.
