God Of War Tease Has Gamers Quietly Losing It

Those teases!

A God of War tease from Santa Monica Studio has resulted in gamers losing it, and to be honest, so are we.

Originally released in 2005 on the PlayStation 2, when God of War arrived and gamers were introduced to Kratos for the very first time, I doubt even the folks at Santa Monica Studio could have truly predicted how huge this series would become.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise, and last week during Sony’s State of Play event, a gorgeous limited edition DualSense controller was announced.

Sure, we would have preferred a sequel to God of War Ragnarök or the rumours of a remake/remasters to come to fruition, but we’re not complaining (too much).

Furthermore, during the aforementioned State of Play event, we were finally treated to the first gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games, and it did not disappoint.

PlayStation gamers and Marvel fans around the world were impressed with the Marvel’s Wolverine trailer, which also introduced a new Logan casting. However, some of the team at Santa Monica Studios were as impressed as we are, and in an attempt to up the ante, the next God of War was seemingly teased.

When quote-tweeting a user who said “Insomniac’s Twitter admin after the Wolverine trailer dropped,” with a gif of Thanos, BlueOwlzMedic replied, “I can't wait until it's my turn.”

“Can you hurry up, please?” pleaded AslamShahtlou with TheAgentOfDoom, adding, “I can't wait until it's your turn, too.”

On Reddit, fans are no less hyped for the next God of War reveal from Santa Monica Studio, sharing their predictions on the thread.

“I'm betting it will be the final game announced at The Game Awards,” predicted Algae-Prize.

“December, The Game Awards. Kratos in Egypt or a new IP,” replied KlemTcen.

“God of War Ragnarök was in 2022, we should get something from Santa Monica Studio this next year or in 2027,” suggested charliegs1996.

Many in the thread suggested that BlueOwlzMedic could be referring to the rumoured 2.5D metroidvania-inspired game, but Santa Monica Studio is likely overseeing that project rather than being hands-on.

Of course, with that being said, we should take all gossip with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. As soon as Sony PlayStation and Santa Monica Studio announce the next God of War game, we’ll be sure to update you right away.

Hopefully, the next announcement won't be a console accessory; otherwise, Kratos' rage may be triggered.
