Genshin Impact fans are being warned that the game is being shut down and delisted, but only on one console.
As one of the biggest gacha games around, Genshin Impact has been enjoyed by millions of players all around the world.
With the game being as popular as it is, MiHoYo has made efforts to keep the game constantly updated with new content like more characters, events, and cosmetics. It’s also brought the game to new platforms, such as the Xbox Series X/S port last year.
Now, MiHoYo has warned players that Genshin Impact will be unplayable on one platform, as the developer has decided to shut down support and will delist it.
Advert
From 10th September, 2025, Genshin Impact will be delisted from the PlayStation 4 store, meaning you won’t be able to search for it or download it.
After that, it’ll be shut down for all existing players on 8th April, 2026, and won’t receive any more updates from MiHoYo. However, the game will still be supported on PC, mobile, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The notice on the removal was posted on HoYoLab, which you can read below.
“Thank you for your continued support and love for Genshin Impact on PS4! Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4 in future versions.
Advert
“Genshin Impact on PS5 will continue to operate normally and is not affected by the removal and update discontinuation on PS4. Traveler will still be able to enjoy the latest content updates on PS5 and other supported platforms.”
It then detailed that the shut down would occur in three phases:
- Game Removal (10th September, 2025), Genshin Impact will be delisted from the PS4 store.
- In-Game Purchases Delisting (25th February, 2026), store purchases for the in-game shop are removed on PS4.
- End of Update Support (April 8th, 2026), no more updates will be released for Genshin Impact on PS4, and that players won’t be able to log in after this date.
It did stress, however, that players can transfer over to other versions of the game to continue playing with all of their current progression, and that all unlocks and purchases would not be affected.
