breaking news
Are you enjoying tonight’s State of Play? I sure hope so. Well, it just got a heck of a lot juicier as we’ve received a brand new look at Death Stranding 2.
Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2 was first revealed back at The Game Awards in December of 2022 - although actor Norman Reedus did let slip before that that he was working on the game. Hideo Kojima took to the stage himself to reveal the game with a thoroughly confusing trailer that is baffling to those who have actually completed the original Death Stranding, let alone those who haven’t. Since then, it’s largely been radio silence (except for an apparent title leak earlier this month), that is until today. Death Stranding 2 has just popped up in tonight’s State of Play. We’ve been treated to a brand new trailer and that coveted release window.
Take a look at Death Stranding 2’s new trailer below.
We now know that Death Stranding 2 is set to release in 2025 and that it’s called Death Stranding 2: On The Beach proving the leak correct from earlier this month. The game has been made in Decima engine with support from the excellent Guerrilla Games. I’m not surprised. Horizon is one of the best-looking franchises out there. Please don’t ask me what else happened in the trailer. There’s a surgery scene, a weird little talking doll, and lots of walking. You can see for yourself above.

Hideo Kojima previously revealed that Death Stranding 2 - or should I say Death Stranding 2: On The Beach - went through a major rewrite. It was written prior to the pandemic, but then the creative had a change of heart, ripped it up, and started again.
Lea Seydoux and Troy Baker are confirmed to return alongside Reedus, while the game also welcomes new cast members Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna.
