Call of Duty and Battlefield fans can download and play this free PlayStation 5 title today, and you don’t need PS Plus.
Not to be confused with the very similar-named SWAT Commander or SWAT Commando, you can check out the upcoming indie game, SWAT Commander Simulator, for free ahead of its full release, expected to be at some point this year.
Developed and published by Tetyana Vysochanska, SWAT Commander Simulator not only looks like a first-person shooter for fans of Call of Duty and Battlefield, but also Ubisoft’s tactical offering, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six series.
“SWAT Commander Simulator, a hyper-realistic, single-player tactical FPS viewed entirely through the distorted, visceral perspective of a body camera. You deploy as the commander of an elite, heavily armed cleanup unit sent into the city's darkest, most abandoned sectors,” reads the description of the game.
At the time of writing, SWAT Commander Simulator demo is only available via the PlayStation Store. The full game doesn't have a release date or price just yet.

According to its official description, this single-player game will have a campaign and loadouts. Other than that, there’s not much else of note. If the full game does release, I’d be very surprised if it doesn't have a low RRP.
It doesn't make for good reading as of right now. Out of a possible five-star rating, SWAT Commander Simulator has only scored 2.22 from 188 users. 23% of users have scored it five stars (a perfect rating makes me suspicious), while a whopping 59% of users have scored it a single star.

After watching a gameplay video on YouTube, SWAT Commander Simulator does look very underwhelming, and some may label it as an Unreal Engine 5 asset flip, the software that the game is created with.
If, for whatever reason, SWAT Commander Simulator does tickle your fancy, you can wishlist it on the PlayStation Store. Oh, and just to be clear, it’s a PS5 exclusive.
