Starfield gets unbelievable graphics overhaul that finally realises game's potential

A dazzling overhaul

Regardless of what you may think of Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG Starfield, it’s hard to dispute it being a very nice-looking game, especially if you play on PC.

After many years in the making, Bethesda finally released Starfield in 2023, a game dubbed by many as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in space. However, on its launch, it’s fair to say that it was a game that divided opinion amongst the most loyal Bethesda fans.

Check out the Starfield trailer below!

In our review of Starfield, we said: “The journey you embark on will dazzle you, and I have no doubt that players will be gripped for months, perhaps even years to come. Here is a playground where you can be whoever you want to be. I simply cannot stop thinking about Starfield and the wondrous secrets it still holds.”

That being said, it did suffer the typical Bethesda bugs at launch and fans criticised the game for missing certain key features such as not being able to travel via vehicle on land. Thankfully, after a series of content updates (and more to come), Starfield has gradually improved and by the looks of a recent leak, we may finally be getting the highly requested vehicle update in the coming weeks.

However, while the official updates deployed by Bethesda aim to improve the overall experience with Starfield such as bug fixes, quality of life improvements or visual enhancements, no one has our backs like the talented modding community.

One such mod or I should say, a series of mods, has been showcased on the YouTube channel Digital Dreams. Taking full advantage of various mods, Starfield has never looked better in a glorious 8K resolution at 60 frames-per-second aided by ray tracing Beyondalllimits, retouched shading effects and more.

You will of course need a beast of a PC capable of running a version of Starfield on ultra-high settings with all of these mods enabled. If that’s you, then I have no shame in admitting my envy.

Starfield is out now on PC and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also available to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost.
