Skyrim: Elysium will keep you busy until The Elder Scrolls 6

The original best Skyrim overhaul remastered

You might have heard of Skyrim Elysium, perhaps the most famous and well-regarded overhaul of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but did you know it has a sequel?

Skryim: Elysium Remastered is, as the name might imply, an updated and improved version of the most well-known modlist of all time– and it’s even by the author of the original modlist.

Alright so, firstly, you may be asking: “What’s a modlist”? Think of it like a collection of mods, curated by one specific person with the intention of changing the original game in a very specific way.

As TitansBane, the author of both Skyrim Elysium and its remaster, explains, “Elysium Remastered is a complete rebuild of the original Elysium modlist. Like the original, it focuses primarily on visuals and is fully featured with hundreds of new additions and full Creation Club support”, complete with several “gameplay overhauls and various new quests".

The Elder Scrolls VI remains some way away.

Sounds great, right? Well, no need to take my word for it - take the word of folks over on the r/skyrim subreddit instead.

“I think it's the best modlist overall among the heavy ones. Mod Organizer registers 1896 mods installed, and I have never played any other modlist where I have this level of long-term playability,” explains user Aiecco.

“Most of the other heavy modlists either have impossibly bugged combat and magic systems or they have very bad stability issues. I did not find any in this one. I'm going strong with my 140 hour savegame, with which I've only experienced one or two crashes, some minor bugs and zero game-breaking stuff.”

So how do you download it? Well first, you’ll have to head over to Wabbajack modlist installer homepage and install that.

Then you’ll have to head over to TitansBane’s github page and install Skyrim: Elysium Remastered from there. You may want to consult Wabbajack’s “Installing a Modlist” page beforehand though, just to make the process a little more straightforward.

And then, enjoy! Just make sure to back up whatever save file you were using beforehand, just in case.
