If you’re looking for a way to overhaul Red Dead Redemption 2, you may want to check out a brand new ‘Project Realism’ mod which, as you might expect, adds dazzling new detail to the game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released five years ago, so it’s no real surprise that PC players might be on the lookout for ways to breathe new life into Rockstar’s iconic experience. It’s arguably one of the best-looking games out there, and boasts one of the most detailed open worlds I’ve ever seen. Does that stop me from wanting to dabble in mods? Absolutely not. Until Rockstar begins working on a third instalment, the mod life it is. Just last week, one mod was released adding 48 new missions, but if it’s more of a behavioural overhaul you’re after, ‘Project Realism’ may be the mod for you.
Take a look at some Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.
The mod is the work of Nexus Mods user hunter14322 and was released around 10 days ago - so it’s pretty new. ‘Project Realism’ is essentially a mod that seeks to make Euphoria (the game’s engine) “as realistic as possible” including improvements to ragdoll physics.

If you download the mod: NPCs will now stiffen up when shot, both playable characters and NPCs will curl up into a ball while falling down a mountain or hill, NPCs will stumble less and fall more easily when shot, bullet force has been made more realistic, NPCs will roll in pain when a certain number of shots have landed, there’s a new rare ‘knockout’ animation if you fall too high of a distance, with the creator teasing “more”.
The creator adds that the mod is still in its beta phase so they’ll be updating the files in due course. It sounds like a worthwhile little mod and I’ll definitely be giving it a whirl.
