Mass Effect Legendary Edition looks better than ever thanks to a mod that improves its textures, and you can download it yourself right now.
It comes at no better time either, as you can grab Mass Effect: Legendary Edition for next to nothing through the Steam Summer sale.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition features Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, as well as over 40 DLC packs across the three titles. The games are also remastered with improved visuals and several adjustments to the gameplay, like quicker loading screens and other quality-of-life improvements.

It’s also playable on Steam Deck if you have one of those, though I’m told it’s a bit hit or miss as you need an EA account in order to play.
While the games still look fantastic you can make them look even better with mods, one of which tweaks the in-game textures to look a little more realistic.
As a side note it should go without saying that we’re talking about the PC version of the game, as the Xbox and PlayStation versions don’t support mods, at the moment anyway.
It’s called “A Lot Of Textures (ALOT)” and you can grab it from NexusMods right now.

It does what it says on the tin basically, switches the textures with slightly more high-quality ones for a more realistic feeling to the game. Even my untrained eye could spot the odd difference in the before-and-after screenshots, so I’m sure those who play on PC regularly will see it as night and day.
Apparently this mod was also part of the inspiration behind the Legendary Edition of the Mass Effect games, though its creator still reckons some of the textures look better than what BioWare did.
So if you’re replaying the trilogy or playing them for the very first time, add this mod into the mix for slightly better graphics.
