Free games: two genre-defining titles available to download and keep right now

PC gamers have once again been spoiled for choice, with two of the most beloved games on Steam currently completely free to download and keep with zero need for a subscription of any kind.

As you've almost certainly noticed, there are so many free games available on Steam and other PC storefronts.With so many new free titles being added all the time, I couldn't blame you if you struggled to keep up with them all. Fortunately for you, I'm here. You are safe now, my child.

As you probably know, Epic enjoys treating us to a couple of free games every week via the Epic Games Store. To claim these games all you need is create an Epic account and grab the downloads from the store. That's it. It's easy, although some people are so against the idea of ever going near the Epic Games Store because they live in a fantasy world where Gabe Newell is their best friend.

For you normal people, however, it couldn't be easier. And what free games can you get from Epic this week? I'm so glad you asked. You're looking well, by the way.

This week you can download and keep Severed Steel, a stunning, stylish FPS with terrific boss battles and completely destructible levels. It's got a 9/10 rating on Steam, and while you can smash through it in about three hours it's still an amazing time.

We also have Homeworld Remastered Collection, a genre defining space RTS with heaps of content to get stuck into. In many ways it's the exact opposite of Severed Steel, offering a much meatier and more methodical experience. But both games are truly fantastic in their own right, and well worth a look.
