If you’ve been in the mood to play some Far Cry games recently this might be your time, as one of the most underrated titles in the series is now fit for new-gen platforms.
Ubisoft has been slowly chipping away at its back-catalogue of games and giving them “remasters” for modern hardware in the form of enhancement updates.
This allows games like Assassin's Creed Syndicate to remain relevant on the latest consoles or PCs, and the part is the upgrade is usually free
The latest Ubisoft title to receive this special treatment is Far Cry: New Dawn, the spin-off title that pushed the series further into the RPG genre.

Far Cry: New Dawn takes place after one of the endings to Far Cry 5, using the same map but making several changes to its aesthetic, like the sky and fauna visible to the player.
It got mixed reviews on launch day but many who’ve played it would call it underrated and misunderstood, so if you haven’t tried it yet it’s worth a go if you can find it on sale, or through Ubisoft+.
To enjoy the game at its best though you’ll want to take advantage of the latest upgrade to the game, which provides a few enhancements for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players that improve the visuals and loading times.
From the sound of things Far Cry 7 is being developed with current-gen hardware in mind, meaning those still on the last-generation might be unable to play it.
Advert
As for what Far Cry 7 will be about we currently don’t know, but rumour has it it’ll introduce a bold new gameplay mechanic in the form of an in-game timer, meaning you have to beat the story under a time limit to see the true ending.
Ubisoft is yet to officially announce the game, but we might get a teaser sometime this year, along with a release date and what platforms it’ll be available on.
