Have you found yourself, out of the blue, itching to dive back into Fallout 3 lately? Well, if that’s you, you may want to check out the Fallout 3 ‘Tale of Two Wastelands’ mod which has a new multiplayer offering that’s available to download now.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Bethesda modding community is the best there is, seriously. In terms of official news, there’s very little to be found right now when it comes to Fallout. We know that Amazon Prime’s TV adaptation is on the way, but we’re yet to receive a full trailer. We do know what the series’ version of Ghouls look like though. Within the modding community, Fallout 4 has been given an impressive graphical overhaul, Fallout: New Vegas has received a free expansion, and Fallout 3 has been remastered with 60fps and 4K graphics. That’s not to mention the Fallout: Neuvo Mexico mod, or the New Vegas fan remake. Today though, I bring you a fun new Fallout 3 multiplayer mod.
Have you checked out the fan project Fallout: London? If not, take a look below.
‘Tale of Two Wastelands’ is a mod for Fallout 3. It’s been made by the New Vegas mod team and it allows you to play as the same character across both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, transporting seamlessly between the two game worlds. In the latest development though, a multiplayer offering has been added which means you’ll be able to game hop with friends. This is all thanks to a new New Vegas script extension.

As reported by YouTube channel Alternative Gaming, you’ll need both the script extender installed as well as the ‘Tale of Two Wastelands’ mod. Up to 20 players can play together on the server, which sounds like great fun. If you don’t fancy playing with strangers, you can host your own server and enjoy the multiplayer with your friends. In addition to playing through both the main Fallout 3 and New Vegas games, you can also play through the DLCs.
All in all, this looks fantastic - plus the developers are hoping to continue to improve the experience in the future.
