Footage has appeared on YouTube that shows what certain parts of Cyberpunk 2077 would look like if it was made using Unreal Engine 5, and it’s stunning.
There’s no doubting that this footage really shows what a step-up Unreal Engine 5 can be, and it’s brilliant that CD Projekt Red will be using the engine for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a great companion anime to the game and showed Night City in a new light.
Of course, that sequel is likely a long way off, but we can at least revel in what it could look like, although we imagine that when the developers get cooking, it’s going to blow us away.
The YouTube video focuses on Lucy, from the anime Edgerunners, and showcases her 3D model in a new light, literally. Using Lumen, we see a light rotating around her model phasing through several hues and it brings the character to life in a whole new way.

It would be great to see all the characters of Cyberpunk 2077 presented in this way as it can really sell the benefits of Unreal Engine 5.
We get glimpses of Night City throughout the footage, but it’s seeing Lucy in high resolution that makes the video into a wow moment. Night City already looks gorgeous in the most recent patch, because CD Projekt Red developers are wizards when it comes to 3D modelling.
This has left me hungry for Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel, whatever that will be called. Given that the developers will go into that title having learned where they went wrong and what they can do to make everything visually stand out, it’s sure to be a knockout.
It’s worth noting, that this is a fan passion project, so Lucy is going to look a little different from how she appeared in Edgerunners, but there’s no doubting the talent on display.
