Bloodborne's remaster project has received a new update, and it brings with it some exciting new features.

The answer might change depending on whom you ask, but when you ask fans what the best FromSoftware game is, a more common answer might be Bloodborne.

Given its setting, lore, and combat, Bloodborne has been rather unmatched by anything else FromSoftware has done in the past decade.

However, with the game being stuck in PS4 jail ever since release, it's been pretty difficult for fans to play it if they don't own a current or last-gen PlayStation console. That is, unless you are able to emulate it via shadPS4.

And one of the best things about emulating this game (legally, might I add) is the modding potential it opens up. Judging by the NexusMods page for it, there is a small but dedicated community of people creating modifications for Bloodborne on PC.

The Bloodborne PC remaster project has been an ongoing project by FromSoftware modder fromsoftserve which aims to overhaul the graphics and visuals, resulting in something that still retains the original art style but looks better on modern machines.

The mod improves lighting and shadows by adding or improving graphical effects that are present in the game. This includes adding dynamic shadows and more ambient lighting.

There's also improved texture quality and more realistic lighting for objects like candles, torches, and lamps.

It's a really cool project if you're a fan, and totally free if you own the original game and have the power to emulate the game on your PC.

Well, the project has now just received a V0.93 update, bringing new improvements and fixes to this version of the game.

This update restores baked lighting, as well as enabling alternate colour grading for different areas. It should mean the game looks a lot crisper in certain situations, and also fits a lot more with the original look of Bloodborne.

The Bloodborne PC Remaster project is available to download from Nexus Mods here, but you'll also need to be able to emulate the game on PC. This requires a legally-obtained copy of the game, the ability to dump the files from your disc, and also shadPS4 installed on your computer.

As always with these types of projects, we don't condone piracy and would encourage you to dump your legally-obtained discs before attempting to emulate them. We also warn you to be extra careful with accessing download links for emulation software, and urge you to authenticate the legitimacy of something before installing it on your computer.
