We can’t speak for everyone, obviously, but we’re pretty darn sure most of you have missed this formidable Legend of Zelda weapon.

Given how old this retro experience is, we tend to assume we know all – we’ve had years to play it, after all.

However, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time players are discovering (the hard way) how wrong such assumptions can be.

To get you in the mood to try out this new weapon, here's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time trailer

If you thought a previous 25-year-old secret we revealed blew your minds, wait until you read about this one.

During a Reddit discussion highlighting all the aspects of Ocarina of Time you may not know, it was revealed that a simple throwaway item has power. Real power. As in, “Master-Swordish” levels.

What is this invaluable weapon, we hear you ask – it’s none other than a Deku stick. No, seriously.

As revealed by user my5ticdrag0n, “If you use a Deku stick on Queen Ghoma she'll die so much faster.”

Given how shocked we were to learn this, it’s unsurprising that other players were left in awe by this information as well.

“This is for reals, the Deku Sticks are actually pretty strong,” explained Denana. Another user then added how Deku sticks roughly do the “same amount of damage" as the jump slash move.

Apparently, it’s one of the “most powerful” weapons little Link (aka child Link) can use; for context, the Kokiri sword only “does two damage”, whereas a Deku stick does four “or something like that”.

Redditor mauvaiseacrylic remarked, “My life has been fundamentally changed today." Us too, buddy, us too.

We’re grateful to learn this secret, of course, but it would have been nice to know it back when we were playing the game for the first time.

Oh, Link, forgive us, for we have failed you!
