Being a strong Pokémon trainer is about being able to create a reliable team to get you through each challenge.

Consequently, it pays to know what your Pokémon starter options are before beginning a new game.

This might be something you’ve got a head start on, as it appears that the starter options for Pokémon Legends: Z-A have leaked.

Reputable leaker, Riddler Khu, posted a cryptic message on Twitter that some believe hints at the starter Pokémon for the upcoming Nintendo game.

For anyone who’s ever said Swifties take it too far with their theorising, wait until you see the leaps being made here.

In their post, Riddler Khu simply said, “3 5 8.”

That’s it. That’s the tweet. There’s no additional information that helps fans come to any specific conclusion.

Yet, that hasn’t stopped them from believing that these numbers refer to the numbers in the Pokédex.

Of course, each region has its own Pokédex, as does each new generation of games in the franchise, and thus this doesn’t exactly help us get any closer to the truth.

Not without the assistance of theories like this one from Twitter account Pokémon Daily News. They said, “Interesting, has to do with the generations perhaps. Linked to the starters?”

Continuing with this line of reasoning, another fan commented, “Starters are from these gens. So in my mind it has to be Snivy, Scorbunny, and Mudkip.”

However, if you assume the first starter is a grass type, then the speculated line-up would be: “Treecko, Tepig, and Sobble”.

While players aren’t decided on the order these starters will take - if this is even what the original message was suggesting - the majority agree that it’s referencing Pokémon Legends: Z-A's starters.

It’s big news... if true.

Despite being known for their accuracy, Riddler Khu’s post is merely speculation until we’re told otherwise.

As of yet, Nintendo nor The Pokémon Company have revealed the starters for the new game.

But just in case we now know what they are, you can begin preparing accordingly.
