It appears that the release date for Pokémon Legends: Z-A may have leaked on a popular worldwide retailer, but is it legit?
In February 2024, Pokémon Legends: Z-A was announced with a cinematic trailer sending fans of the series into a frenzy. Moreover, fans have speculated that the next Pokémon game will be released on the Nintendo Switch and perhaps the Switch 2 with the trailer stating that it’s “releasing simultaneously worldwide in 2025.”

Unfortunately, since that time, we’ve not learned much else about the game such as its confirmed release date or even being treated to a gameplay trailer. Hopefully, we might learn more when Nintendo finally reveals the successor to the Switch console this year.

That being said, a release date was shared for Pokémon Legends: Z-A by Twitter user Light_88 via a listing on retailer Amazon in the UK. Available to pre-order, the release date for Pokémon Legends: Z-A was 15 August 2025, which falls on a Friday, a common release date day.
However, I’ve just checked the Amazon listing in the UK and it now says Friday, 2 January 2026. As for the US listing, at the time of writing, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is currently not available to pre-order.

It’s more than likely that all the release dates listed on Amazon are merely placeholders, especially the new 2 January 2026 date. Unless Amazon knows something that Nintendo has not made public, we all know that Pokémon Legends: Z-A is scheduled to be released at some point this year.
It’s perhaps also worth keeping in mind that other than Pokémon Legends: Arceus which was released on 28 January 2022, all other mainline Pokémon games on the Nintendo Switch were released in November.
Of course, we’ll keep you posted when we get more information on Pokémon Legends: Z-A as well as the Nintendo Switch successor, the latter of which is expected to be made soon.
