There have been tons of fantastic Pokémon games over the years and depending on who you ask, each fan will likely give a different answer as to which is the best. However, when it comes to recent entries, many may respond with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a prequel to the series that was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2022.

In our review of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, we said: “Its open areas filled with Pokémon are a joy to delve into and will eat up hours of your time in what feels like mere minutes. The heavy borrowing of Zelda elements doesn’t detract from its identity as a Pokémon game, proving that change doesn’t hurt the beloved franchise one bit.”
It’s been a couple of years or so since Pokémon Legends: Arceus, as well as Scarlet and Violet, all of which launched in 2022 and no doubt fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A which is arriving at some point this year.
In the meantime, if you’re a subscriber to Nintendo Switch Online, you can take advantage of the free mobile app Nintendo Music, which is basically Spotify but exclusively features Nintendo game soundtracks.
This fantastic free app not only features music from the Pokémon series but also Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid and so forth. If a favourite song of yours is missing, then never fear, because the app is being updated regularly with its newest additions available right now.
Brought to our attention by Twitter user Wario64, the official soundtrack of Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available on the Nintendo Music app on Android and iOS devices.

Moreover, as highlighted in a tweet from Nintendo of America, in recent weeks, the soundtracks for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, and more have been added to the free app.
At the time of writing, Pokémon Legends Z-A does not have a release date but hopefully all will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct event on 2 April 2025 when we’ll get all the juicy details on the Switch 2.
