Discussion surrounding The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has seemingly quelled, but I’d urge you not to move on just yet.

You see, a hefty batch of related free goodies have just landed across Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Yes, a fresh batch of Mario themed Nintendo Switch Online icons have arrived, with plenty of them specifically themed to Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 this time around.

Within this batch, there are 17 icons available, 10 backgrounds, and five frames.

The icons include fan-favourite characters like Rosalina, Yoshi, Bowser Jr, and a Lumalee.

That’s far from all as the general batch of Super Mario themed freebies has also refreshed, introducing a whopping 40 new icons, 20 new backgrounds, and 20 new frames.

Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario 3D World, Bowser’s Fury, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder are among the games represented.

You can treat yourself to inflated Luigi, a Cat Goomba, or a Chincho, just to name a few unusual options.

As is always the case, profile icons will set you back 10 Platinum Points each, while backgrounds and frames all cost 5 Platinum Points each.

Platinum Points is Nintendo’s free currency, so you don’t actually have to spend a penny to nab any of these freebies to adorn your Nintendo Switch Online profile.

Head Over To My Nintendo To View Missions To Earn More Platinum Points

You can head over to My Nintendo in order to find all the missions and campaigns that’ll net you some additional points.

There are one time activities like signing up for the My Nintendo newsletter plus tasks that you can repeat weekly.

Heck, merely signing into your account every week should secure you some free point.

On average it’s possible to garner around 70 Platinum Points every week in repeatable activities which is more than enough to select a couple of your favourite new icons.

The NSO icon line-up is constantly changing.

There’s no expiry date yet on the Super Mario Galaxy themed batch, but I’d act sooner rather than later.

All other Mario icons refresh on 20 April, so you have just a few days to secure what you’re after.
