The Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be announced during either of the Nintendo Switch directs today, just so you know.
It’s hilarious that Nintendo even has to say that before one of its directs, but with all the excitement surrounding the Switch’s successor it does make sense why it’d want to temper expectations.

The company warned fans to not get their hopes up about any hardware updates, prompting the internet to do what it does best and mock the update.
“Will there be any mentions of any Nintendo predecessors?” one user commented, with another adding that it could announce the “Wii U 2” instead.
Another user said “This is exactly what you’d say if you were announcing the New New Nintendo 4DS XXL. BRB gotta make six YouTube videos on this.”
However the greatest reply of all, and one I’ve got a personal stake in as do many, was one fan taking the opportunity to manifest the release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong.

“Alternatively what they are trying to say here is that Nintendo Switch Successor won't be announced in either of these presentations, but they never mentioned that Hollow Knight's sequel won't be announced in these events. So, if you ask me, there is a fair chance of Silksong.”
The Nintendo Switch’s successor will probably be announced towards the end of this year, as it’s believed the console’s release date is somewhere in 2025.
Apparently a lucky few have gone hands-on with the upcoming console, but were not allowed to actually see it.
So fingers-crossed there’s another direct towards the end of the year, and if the Nintendo Switch 2 is part of the showcase it might just break the internet.
