These heated discussions look set to continue now that the speculated release date for the new Nintendo hardware seems more plausible.
Nintendo Prime, a well-known leaker, previously claimed that the Switch 2 would be unveiled in January 2025 to then be released in March.
When gamers first heard this, some found the idea hard to believe.

However, more “evidence” seemingly confirms Nintendo Prime’s claims.

As a result, it does seem like Nintendo is planning to launch the Switch 2 way sooner than any of us anticipated.
Said leaker has got several rumours correct in the past.
What is more, posts discussing the Switch 2 have since been deleted by the leaker, therefore giving the impression they’ve been asked to remove them.
In a lovely turn of events, most fans are in agreement about the rumour.

I know, we’re as shocked as you are.
“[The] Switch 2 is also backwards compatible so it’s not like they need to give us huge notice either since our existing games will still work on the new system,” reasoned one Redditor.
This is true. It's unlikely the next Switch will be markedly different from its predecessor, ergo, Nintendo doesn’t need a long gap between announcement and release. Or so the theory goes.
Even those who don’t 100 percent buy into any of the current Switch 2 rumours still hold out hope for that early 2025 launch.

“I honestly hope it is early 2025,” responded hushpolocaps69. “The thought of Switch 2 coming out in summer or fall 2025 just sounds sad to me.”
It does sound like a sad future date, doesn’t it?
Let’s hope that Nintendo Prime is on the money with this one.
