The Nintendo Switch 2 release is fast approaching but with Nintendo keeping details about its next handheld close to its chest, potential customers are having to rely on leaks and rumours to get them through the wait.
With recent leaks surrounding its memory and storage capacity as well as its battery life, the Nintendo Switch 2 is the talk of the town despite not having been officially revealed yet.
Celebrate the Nintendo Switch with its reveal trailer below!
It has been seven years since the launch of the Nintendo Switch and thanks to its offering titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it has cemented itself as one of the best handheld consoles of all time.

However, with technology improving every year, it is time for the Nintendo Switch to get a much-needed overhaul and that will come with the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Now thanks to an uncovered Nintendo job listing, we now have more information surrounding the Switch 2’s loading times.
Spotted by Youtuber SuperMetalDave64, Nintendo of America is currently on the search for a PCB layout engineer with experience with SD Express flash storage.
As a result, many believe that the Switch successor could feature SD Express storage which will offer speeds of up to 985 MB/sec.

In layman’s terms, the Switch 2 having SD Express flash storage would mean that future games will have higher-resolution assets which would lead to faster loading times and improved gameplay.
SD Express storage is relatively new technology so it is not on everybody’s radar.
However, the SD association has this to say about the new tech:
“SD Express and microSD Express add the popular PCI Express® and NVMe™ interfaces to SD memory cards alongside the legacy SD interface.

The PCIe interface delivers a 985 megabytes per second (MB/s) maximum data transfer rate and the NVMe upper layer protocol enables advanced memory access mechanism.
All SD Express memory cards are backwards compatible while still benefiting from continued research, development and long-term roadmaps associated with these two architectures.
Soon, SD Express memory cards will be able to serve as removable Solid State Drives(SSD).”
