It may seem obvious to most, but it’s quite clear that the Nintendo Switch 2 will sell out upon launch, and it will leave many fans feeling glum.
Of course, Nintendo hasn’t even announced the console, but many fans have noted that components have been stockpiled to try to avoid a lack of consoles by analysing shipping manifests.
Nintendo will expect millions of fans to buy their latest console when it's released
None of this is stopping industry analysts from giving out warnings that there will likely be a shortage of the much-rumoured console.

In an interview with Games Industry Biz, analyst Dr. Serkan Toto notes, “Nintendo will not have enough consoles to sell - Despite Nintendo's pledge and best efforts, the new device will sell out very quickly and not be available for months in 2025. It will be even worse than 2017 when the Switch launched.”
This is corroborated by Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, who commented on the console, saying, “I'm expecting to see hardware constraints for several months after a significant early demand surge. And units sold will, of course, be dependent upon manufacturing capabilities.”
It’s currently believed the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in the first half of 2025, and it’s easily one of the most anticipated consoles in recent memory.
Back in 2017, when the Nintendo Switch launched, many gamers found themselves wanting when both online retailers and physical stores were short on stock.

While the industry has moved on since then and Nintendo will be forecasting high sales, it’s impossible to know how many will upgrade.
Given the popularity of the console, we could be looking at multiple millions of fans looking to snag a console as soon as possible.
Until Nintendo announces the console, price, and release date, everything is speculated, except the hype.
Just be prepared to get in quick when preorders go live, you might even find yourself in a queue on the day.
