Nintendo will reportedly release its next-gen successor to the Nintendo Switch by the end of 2024.
While its game library boasts some impressive titles, most notably The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Nintendo Switch has fallen well behind in terms of console power.

Luckily, it’s been known for some time that Nintendo is working on a successor to the Nintendo Switch, and is rumoured to have shown it off to developers earlier this year. While it’s supposedly not going to be as powerful as the Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5, it’ll definitely be a significant upgrade from what came before.

Now, new details have emerged about the Nintendo Switch 2, including a release date, and supposed plans to release more than one console.
The leak was shared by SoldierDelta on Discord, who said Nintendo plans to release two new consoles by the end of 2024, a standard and all-digital model. This is similar practise to Xbox and PlayStation, which also released standard and digital consoles back-to-back.
Pricing for the new consoles reportedly starts at $400 for the all-digital version, whereas the standard version will set you back $450, roughly the same price as the standard Xbox and PlayStation consoles. It’s reported that the current pricing isn’t final, and is subject to change later down the line.
A planned release date was also shared, with the company hoping to launch the new consoles on 24 September 2024. It’s also believed Nintendo has set a fallback date of 3 November in case anything needs to be changed.

The only thing we’re still unsure of is its name. SoldierDelta originally shared the codename “NG”, though later updated themselves saying it wasn’t a codename shared by Nintendo, but rather one attached to it by developers.
It’s currently unknown when Nintendo plan to unveil the Nintendo Switch successor to the world, though if it’s aiming for a late 2024 release date, chances are we won’t see an official reveal until sometime next year.
