As of today, Nintendo Switch 2 gamers can natively play one of the most popular free-to-play first-person shooters in recent times.

When the more powerful Nintendo Switch 2 was released last year, it instantly became possible for Nintendo gamers to play a plethora of amazing games that were not possible on the last-gen system.

Thanks to the power of the Nintendo Switch 2, fans of the hybrid console can now play the likes of Resident Evil Requiem, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Cyberpunk 2077, as well as Pragmata, which arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 17 April 2026.

Overwatch Is One of the Most Popular FPS Games Ever

In 2023, developed by Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch 2 was released, which was basically a big, glorified update of the original game that launched in 2016. Now, it’s simply reverted to being called just Overwatch, which is probably for the best.

The second iteration of Overwatch was released on the original Nintendo Switch, and while it’s still an enjoyable game with cross-play/progression functions, it’s still lacking in terms of performance and visuals, compared to its PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S counterparts. Well, it was.

As of today, the second iteration of Overwatch is natively available on the Nintendo Switch 2, just in time for Season 2: Summit.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Overwatch will have increased resolution both in handheld and docked modes, enhanced textures and lighting, up to 60 frames-per second, improved audio and more.

What is Overwatch?

“Overwatch, a future worth fighting for! Overwatch is an always-on and ever-evolving free-to-play, team-based action game set in an optimistic future, where every match is the ultimate 5v5 or 6v6 battlefield brawl,” reads the synopsis of the game.

What does Overwatch Season 2: Summit bring?

It brings the new ‘Damage Hero’ Sierra, as well as post-match ‘Accolades’, new Stadium Heroes, Ramattra and Jetpack Cat (arriving midseason), the Genji Mythic Weapon and Soldier: 76 skin, and more.

The update for Overwatch on Nintendo Switch 2 should automatically download and install the next time you fire up the game. That’s, unless the deeds were done while in sleep mode and if so, it’s job done and you’re good to go.
