Nintendo is celebrating the release of its second first-party blockbuster for the Nintendo Switch 2 by giving away some charming freebies.

With the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo is refreshing the Nintendo Switch Online icon selection to reflect the new adventure of DK and his pals.

With every big new Nintendo release, the company offers out new icons, backgrounds and frames based on their most famous characters.

Seeing as Donkey Kong is appearing in a new game, it’s his turn to take over the choices, with imagery showing the ape in various poses.

Of course, he’s teaming up with Pauline for this game, so you’ll find her in several of the options, too.

Paired with bold and colourful backgrounds, and some zany frames, you can rep your favourite character, or even root for the enemies with your choice.

As always, these icons are available via Nintendo Switch Online, and to claim them, you’ll be trading in platinum points, which are earned in several ways.

These platinum points are earned by completing missions through the MyNintendo service; they can also be gathered by using other Nintendo services via apps on smartphones and tablets.

Navigate to the Nintendo Switch Online menu on your Nintendo Switch 2, and you’ll see the new selection in all its glory.

From here you can choose to redeem all the icons, or just your favourites, mixing and matching them to show off your personality through your profile icon, which is seen when playing online.

Icons will refresh every week, so make sure you don’t miss out on these, and join in with the Donkey Kong celebrations.

Keep an eye out for changes as we move through the months leading up to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which is surely going to get its own selection of icons, too.
