Nintendo Switch 2 new battery feature sounds genius

Nintendo Switch 2 new battery feature sounds genius

It sounds pretty damn powerful

It is unlikely that we will receive official confirmation of the Nintendo Switch 2 until next year but despite that, rumours about its potential specs are still appearing online.

It has been seven years since the Nintendo Switch was first released and the latest Nintendo handheld has given us classics such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

However, it is time to make way for a brand-new console and a bigger and better Nintendo Switch is seemingly on the horizon.

Although not yet announced by Nintendo itself, the Nintendo Switch 2 is pretty much an inevitability which leads to the question as to what we can expect from its specs.

Now, according to a recent rumour courtesy of the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, the Switch 2 will allow players to choose a performance mode whilst the unit is undocked.

If true, this will be the first time that Nintendo has implemented a feature like this, and it will make customising the console to your liking a whole lot easier.

The news comes from Nash Weedle who claims that the information comes from a developer who has access to the Nintendo Switch 2 tech.

“Nintendo Switch 2 has a performance selector for portable mode from its own menu (prioritise battery or power),” they shared on Twitter.

“This is what a developer has shared with some colleagues along with other details about the development kit. It seems that Nintendo wants to avoid the multiple graphic options of the games and simplify it with few options that we preconfigure on the console.”

Do take this with a pinch of salt, for now.

In the past, Nintendo has seemingly wanted to prioritise battery life but it seems to be taking a different route this time and pushing the hardware to the limits of power.

It is an exciting time indeed.
